Tulsi Gabbard, Who Exposed Kamala Harris in 2019, Now Coaching Trump for 2024 Debate Showdown

In the summer of 2019, during the second Democratic presidential primary debate in Detroit, then-Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii made headlines with a pointed and fierce critique of fellow candidate Kamala Harris.

While many expected the night’s focus to be on front-runner Joe Biden, Gabbard instead turned her attention to Harris, who was then a progressive Democratic senator from California.

Tulsi’s attack was sharp and strategic. She targeted Harris’s record as a prosecutor, asserting it harmed Black and brown communities disproportionately.

“I want to bring the conversation back to the broken criminal justice system,” Gabbard began, “Sen. Harris says she’s proud of her record as a prosecutor… but I’m deeply concerned about this record.”

Gabbard’s remarks sent shockwaves through the debate hall, as she accused Harris of contributing to systemic injustices, such as putting people in jail for marijuana violations and blocking evidence in crucial cases.

Gabbard Joins Trump’s Debate Prep Team

Now, five years later, Gabbard’s memorable confrontation with Harris is being revisited as she steps into a new political role—helping Donald Trump prepare for the 2024 presidential debates.

Gabbard, who has since left the Democratic Party and aligned herself with the Republican Party, is using her experience to advise Trump on his debate strategy.

According to Trump campaign, Tulsi’s insight is particularly valuable when it comes to confronting Harris, who serves as vice president and is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming election cycle.

A Trump campaign official noted, “Tulsi Gabbard whipped Kamala Harris’ butt on the debate stage in 2019, and she’s offering her advice to President Trump ahead of his next big moment.”

Later after dropping from the 2020 race, Gabbard endorsed Biden.

“I know Joe Biden and his wife, and I’m grateful to have called his son Beau a friend who also served in the National Guard,” she said in a video statement then. “Although I may not agree with the VP on every issue, I know that he has a good heart and he’s motivated by his love for our country and the American people. I’m confident that he will lead our country guided by the spirit of Aloha, respect and compassion and thus help heal the divisiveness that has been tearing our country apart.”

Gabbard’s role extends beyond just attacking Harris.

Trump’s team has been working with her to help refine his debate responses, ensuring that his attacks are backed by policy solutions and not just rhetoric.

Gabbard has become a key player in these preparations, particularly given her sharpness in debates and her experience in taking down prominent Democratic figures.

A Shift in Political Allegiances

Since her 2020 presidential run, Gabbard has shifted her political allegiances dramatically. In 2022, she officially left the Democratic Party and began campaigning for Republican candidates.

She has become a regular critic of the Biden-Harris administration, frequently appearing on conservative media platforms like Fox News.

Gabbard’s involvement with Trump’s campaign, including moderating a town hall for him and being named to his transition team, has solidified her place in Trump’s political orbit.

As the 2024 election heats up, Gabbard’s role in shaping Trump’s debate strategy adds another layer to her evolving political journey.

Her 2019 confrontation with Harris may have been a defining moment in her own campaign, but it is now shaping up to be a significant influence on Trump’s strategy as he prepares to face his Democratic opponents once again.
