Trump’s Team Races into Transition Mode Within 12 Hours After Victory, Prepares Swift Border and Energy Policy Actions

Just twelve hours after polls closed, Donald Trump’s campaign team jumped into transition mode, marking a quick shift from campaigning to preparing for a new administration.

Gathering in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump’s advisors worked on Wednesday to outline transition plans, including managing queries about potential administration picks and policy priorities.

The prompt transition efforts signaled confidence from Trump’s team, especially following a strong election night win.

Key Day-One Priorities: Border Security and Energy Independence

Trump’s advisors have outlined several first-day priorities focused on his America First agenda.

According to Trump senior advisor Jason Miller, the initial actions will likely include executive orders on border security and measures to boost domestic oil production.

The rapid push for these priorities, particularly if Republicans maintain control of Congress, could pave the way for immediate policy shifts under Trump’s leadership.

Cabinet Selection and Potential Key Figures

The transition team has already begun vetting candidates for Cabinet positions. While formal appointments are yet to be made, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who was considered as Trump’s running mate, is reportedly a potential pick for the administration.

Additionally, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a recent member of Trump’s transition team, has indicated that he would support policies under Trump’s leadership without drastically altering public health measures.

Other notable names discussed for key roles include Dr. Joseph Ladapo, Florida’s Surgeon General, whom Governor Ron DeSantis has promoted for Health and Human Services Secretary.

Meanwhile, John Fleming, currently Louisiana’s treasurer and a former Trump administration official, has shown interest in roles within the Commerce or Health and Human Services departments.

Think Tanks and Policy Memos Fuel Transition Efforts

The transition team is also leveraging input from conservative think tanks, particularly the America First Policy Institute, to refine policy strategies for the upcoming term.

The team is compiling a range of policy memos covering areas from national security to economic reforms to prepare for swift action.

Linda McMahon, co-chair of Trump’s transition team, is heading these policy development efforts, aided by a network of former Trump administration members and trusted allies.

Unprecedented GSA Support Delay Raises Questions

One of the most debated aspects of Trump’s transition is the potential decision to forego support from the General Services Administration (GSA).

While GSA resources are traditionally employed to facilitate transitions, Trump’s team has yet to sign the necessary agreement, which could lead them to independently fund their transition efforts.

This approach would allow the team to raise funds privately, avoiding some federal oversight but also complicating logistics, such as access to government resources and cybersecurity tools.

A Glimpse of Policy and Administrative Challenges Ahead

The Trump administration’s initial steps highlight a list of ambitious goals, from immigration reforms and new tariffs to reducing taxes on specific income categories.

However, fulfilling these pledges may present challenges, especially with complexities around proposed tax cuts for overtime pay, tips, and Social Security benefits.

Trump’s advisers, however, remain optimistic given the strong voter support observed across diverse demographics.

Calls with Biden and Harris Signal Intent for Smooth Transition

On Wednesday, both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris reached out to Trump to discuss transition plans, with Biden extending an invitation to the White House to ensure a seamless handover.

According to Trump’s spokesperson Steven Cheung, the former president appreciated the gesture and looks forward to an official meeting with Biden to coordinate the process.

With a mix of seasoned and new voices contributing to the transition effort, the former president and his advisers aim to craft an administration aligned with Trump’s vision for his second term.
