Trump Secures Prime Spot on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ Days Ahead of Nov 5 Election as Harris Scrambles for Alternatives

Donald Trump is set to drop by the Austin studio of none other than Joe Rogan, one of the most influential voices in modern media, for a recording that’s already sparking buzz.

Rogan’s platform, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” pulls in millions of listeners—especially among the elusive young male demographic—giving both parties a unique, unfiltered way to reach voters just days before the election.

With Trump eager to rally his base and capture new ears, his Friday appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcase, the world’s leading podcast`could hit listeners as early as Saturday, adding another layer to the final campaign stretch.

Trump Looks to Joe Rogan Podcast Audiences for Last-Minute Push

On the other side, Vice President Kamala Harris’s team had been exploring a similar slot on Rogan’s show. However, scheduling snags and a few logistical complications kept her from landing the spot.

According to media reports, discussions hit a wall over the timing and location of a potential recording.

While she agreed to the requirement of an hour-long conversation without campaign handlers, pulling it all together proved to be challenging.

In place of Rogan, Harris will instead sit down with podcaster Brené Brown while she’s in Texas, aiming to connect with her own audience base.

Podcasting Dominates as Top Outreach Strategy in 2024 Election

As for why podcasts like Joe Rogan’s are now wielding so much power, it’s simple: audiences are tuning in like never before, with over half of Americans listening to at least one podcast monthly.

A spot on Rogan’s show offers not just reach, but influence that rivals prime-time news networks.

Joe Rogan’s audience spans a diverse crowd, regularly including up to 15 million listeners across Spotify, YouTube, and other platforms.

His conversational style, which can run hours and often includes whiskey or cigars, has hosted everyone from Elon Musk to scientists, making it a platform where bold, sometimes controversial conversations thrive.

Harris’s Outreach Tactics Reflect Bid for Younger Male Voters

Harris’s team had hoped to reach younger men, a demographic that skews in Trump’s favor and where Harris trails.

Her other podcast efforts this year reflect an effort to reach beyond her typical audience, like her recent appearance on “All the Smoke,” targeting younger Black men, and on “Call Her Daddy,” popular among young women.

Trump, meanwhile, has been working to rally his supporters, especially undecided voters in battleground states.

His podcast appearances have included those with high appeal to young men, such as “This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von” and “Full Send Podcast.”

Joe Rogan Balances Political Controversy with Massive Reach

Joe Rogan, who signed a major deal with Spotify that’s reportedly worth up to $250 million, has seen his own share of political controversies.

He initially leaned toward Bernie Sanders but stirred things up by suggesting he’d prefer Trump over Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee emerged in 2020.

The podcaster has since taken steps to balance his discussions, particularly after Spotify faced backlash, including Neil Young pulling his music from the platform in protest over what he saw as COVID-19 misinformation.

Rogan’s stance on Trump has fluctuated. Just a couple of years back, he was clear about not being a Trump supporter, turning down previous interview requests.

Yet, in recent months, Rogan’s tone softened somewhat, dismissing claims of Trump’s supposed authoritarian ambitions.

“He actually was the president for four years and the economy really did well,” Rogan remarked on his show, sharing that Trump’s time in office wasn’t as “extreme” as portrayed by some.

In the recent Presidential debate, Harris impressed Rogan with her preparation and responses, leading him to acknowledge her strong performance.

Yet, it’s no secret that Trump’s team sees Rogan’s platform as an undeniable asset to their campaign, particularly with Rogan’s appeal among those skeptical of traditional media narratives.

Clips of Trump’s remarks often make waves, with some soundbites trending widely on social media, adding fuel to the discussion.

Rogan’s approach to these lengthy, in-depth conversations grants political figures a rare chance to speak candidly in a space not governed by time constraints or soundbite culture.

This election season, it seems podcasts like Rogan’s are playing an outsized role in shaping public opinion.

And, with Trump making his way to Rogan’s studio, the nation’s most popular podcaster is once again at the heart of a media moment that could sway opinions—and perhaps even votes.
