Robert De Niro Warns of Chaos Under Trump at Biden-Harris Campaign Event In New York

Actor Robert De Niro delivered a stark warning about the consequences of Donald Trump’s actions at a Biden-Harris campaign event in New York City.

Speaking near the Manhattan courtroom where closing arguments are underway in the case N.Y. v. Trump, De Niro accused Trump of “sowing chaos” and expressed concerns about the potential global impact.

“I love this city. I don’t want to destroy it. Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city but the country. And eventually he could destroy the world,” De Niro declared.

Protests Interrupt De Niro’s Speech

De Niro’s remarks were met with interruptions from protesters, which he attributed to Trump’s influence.

“Donald Trump has created this. He should be telling them not to do this,” De Niro remarked, highlighting his concerns about the chaos he believes Trump incites.

George Floyd and the January 6 Capitol Insurrection

Joining De Niro were former police officers Michael Fanone and Harry Dunn, who defended the Capitol during the January 6, 2021, riots.

Their presence underscored the gravity of the Capitol riots, which they attribute to Trump’s rhetoric and actions.

Fanone recounted his experiences and injuries from the insurrection, emphasizing the violence unleashed by Trump supporters.

“I came here today to remind Americans of what Donald Trump is capable of and the violence that he unleashed on all of Americans on Jan. 6, 2021,” Fanone said.

Dunn, who recently ran for a House seat in Maryland, urged Americans to take action through the ballot box. “We can’t count on these institutions to stop Donald Trump. It’s going to take us Americans at the ballot box to defeat him once and for all,” he stated.

Biden Campaign’s Strategic Move

The Biden campaign’s decision to hold the event near Trump’s trial marks a shift in strategy.

Previously, they had largely ignored the trial but are now leveraging the media attention surrounding the legal proceedings.

Michael Tyler, Biden’s campaign communication director, clarified their intent: “We’re not here today because of what’s going on over there. We’re here today because you all are here.”

De Niro’s Message to Voters

De Niro also narrated a recent Biden campaign ad, where he criticized Trump’s presidency and warned of the dangers if Trump were to be reelected.

“If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted,” he stated.

De Niro reiterated his love for New York City and his concerns about Trump’s potential impact.

“I love this city. I don’t want to destroy it. Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city but the country, and, eventually, he could destroy the world,” he emphasized.

Trump Allies Respond

In response to the Biden campaign’s event, Trump’s allies organized their own press conference.

Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Trump, argued that the Biden event demonstrated the political motivations behind Trump’s prosecution.

“Joe’s crookeds aren’t in PA, MI, WI, NV, AZ or GA – they’re outside the Biden Trial against President Trump,” Miller posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “It’s always been about politics.”

A Divisive Moment in American Politics

The event highlighted the deep divisions in American politics, with De Niro and the Biden campaign seeking to remind voters of the events of January 6 and the potential consequences of a Trump presidency.

The presence of former officers Fanone and Dunn underscored the gravity of the Capitol riots, while Trump’s allies continued to frame his legal troubles as politically motivated.

As the nation moves closer to the next election, these events and the narratives surrounding them will likely play a significant role in shaping public opinion and voter decisions.

The Biden campaign’s focus on the January 6 insurrection and its aftermath signals a strategic effort to capitalize on the public’s memory of that day and to contrast Biden’s vision with Trump’s legacy.
