On 3-Hour Joe Rogan Podcast, Trump Discusses Foreign Policy, Health, and Political Endorsements

Austin, Texas — Former President Donald Trump sat down for an extended interview on The Joe Rogan Experience, a popular podcast hosted by comedian Joe Rogan.

The nearly three-hour conversation, recorded in Austin, aired on Friday and provided Trump a direct platform to Rogan’s massive audience, which includes 14.5 million Spotify followers and 17.6 million YouTube subscribers.

Targeting young male voters—a demographic Rogan’s influence strongly appeals to—Trump touched on topics ranging from foreign policy to public health initiatives and political alliances during the podcast.

Trump Reflects on Bolton’s Tenure and Foreign Policy Strategies

During the podcast, Trump discussed his administration’s inner workings, particularly his selection of John Bolton as National Security Adviser.

Trump recounted that fellow businessman Phil Ruffin had cautioned him about Bolton’s character, calling him a “bad guy,” but by then, Bolton had already been hired.

Reflecting on Bolton’s approach, Trump admitted that Bolton’s assertive stance served a purpose, particularly in international negotiations, where his presence was seen as a potential threat.

“And he was right. But he was good in a certain way. He’s a nut job,” Trump said. “Every time I had to deal with a country when they saw this whack job standing behind me, they said, ‘Man, Trump’s going to go to war with us.'”

Trump also explained his approach toward North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, sharing that his strategy included humor and candid advice.

Recalling a past exchange during the podcast, Trump said, “Little Rocket Man, you’re going to burn in hell… Just relax. You don’t have to do it. Let’s build some condos.”

Rogan’s Perspective on Modern Conservatism and Censorship

In one segment of the podcast, Rogan discussed the shift in political identities in recent years, stating, “The rebels are Republicans now… you’re a conservative now.”

Rogan pointed to trends he perceives in liberal-leaning circles, particularly around issues of free speech, noting an increasing push for censorship on social media. Elon Musk, owner of X (formerly Twitter), quickly engaged with this discussion, commenting, “Exactly,” on the podcast clip.

The two further discussed what Rogan framed as a cultural shift, suggesting that conservative ideals have become the new form of rebellion.

Rogan argued that liberals, traditionally defenders of free speech, have shifted to advocating for regulation and censorship, particularly in online spaces.

Trump and RFK Jr. Collaboration on Health Policy

Rogan raised Trump’s collaboration with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in launching the “Make America Healthy Again” initiative during the podcast, which focuses on reducing harmful chemicals in food and promoting health.

Trump expressed a strong commitment to working with Kennedy, albeit with reservations on environmental matters.

“The only thing I want to be a little careful about with him is the environmental,” Trump said. “I love oil… I said focus on health.”

Rogan shared concerns over the U.S. food system, criticizing the use of pesticides and other chemicals that are banned in several other countries.

Kennedy, a known advocate for clean health practices, claims that more than 70% of young men are ineligible for military service due to poor health—a statistic Rogan emphasized during their discussion.

Endorsements and Election Strategy

Rogan pushed Trump on potential endorsements for his presidential run, noting that Musk has previously expressed support for Trump.

Trump jokingly asked Rogan to follow suit, saying, “You should do the same thing, Joe, because you cannot be voting for Kamala. Kamala. You’re not a Kamala person. I know you.”

To further press the point, Trump compared Rogan’s personality to that of UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov rather than to Vice President Kamala Harris, saying, “You’re a Khabib person – but you’re not a Kamala person.”

As the 2024 election looms, this interview serves as an attempt by Trump to gain traction with Rogan’s audience, potentially securing support from voters who are undecided or open to unconventional candidates.
