New York Mayor Adams Defends Trump Amid ‘Fascist’ Accusations from Democrats Ahead Of MSG Rally

New York Mayor Eric Adams defended former President Donald Trump on Saturday, sharply criticizing remarks from prominent Democrats labeling Trump a “fascist” and comparing him to Adolf Hitler.

Adams, a moderate Democrat himself and currently under federal scrutiny for alleged corruption, challenged the inflammatory language accusing Trump of being a fascist, during a press conference outlining police plans for Trump’s upcoming rally at Madison Square Garden.

Adams Stands Firm Against ‘Fascist’ Accusations

During the Manhattan conference, Mayor Adams addressed escalating rhetoric within his party.

“I have had those comments hurled at me by some political leaders in the city; my answer is ‘No,’” Adams stated, responding to the accusations leveled at Trump.

“I know what Hitler has done, and I know what a fascist regime looks like,” he emphasized, calling on all parties to “dial down the temperature” of political discourse.

Adams, who has a strained relationship with progressive factions within the Democratic Party, voiced his concerns on Democrats’ line of attack amidst heightened tensions.

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden have recently intensified their criticism of Trump, casting him as a fascist, authoritarian threat to American democracy.

Harris and Biden Amplify Accusations After New Reports

This week, Harris and Biden renewed attacks on Trump following allegations from retired Marine Corps Gen.

John Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff, confirmed reports that Trump allegedly praised Hitler’s generals.

Kelly’s account aligns with prior reporting by The Atlantic, which has sparked uproar among Trump’s political opponents, who started calling him fascist.

During a CNN town hall, Harris underscored the severity of these claims, directly calling Trump a “fascist” and cautioning voters about his admiration for autocratic figures.

“This is a serious, serious issue. And we know who he is. He admires dictators,” Harris remarked to a national audience, aiming to cement her stance on Trump’s alleged authoritarian inclinations.

Harris’ campaign launched a media blitz with over a dozen press releases referencing Kelly’s statements, including one where Trump allegedly remarked that “Hitler did some good things” by rebuilding the German economy.

Trump has since denied these statements, denouncing The Atlantic as “a failing magazine” and refuting claims he ever endorsed Hitler in any context.

Rally at Madison Square Garden Sparks Comparisons to 1939 Nazi Event

As Trump’s supporters gear up for the Sunday rally at Madison Square Garden, political adversaries have drawn parallels to the notorious 1939 Nazi rally held in the same venue.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, appearing on CNN, remarked that Trump is “actually re-enacting the Madison Square Garden rally in 1939.”

Despite the comparisons, Mayor Adams upheld the importance of Trump’s right to hold the event.

“This is America. This is New York, and I think it’s important that we allow individuals to exercise their right to get their message clear to New Yorkers,” he said, reiterating the city’s commitment to ensuring a safe, orderly event.

NYPD Ramps Up Security for Sunday’s Rally

In preparation for the massive gathering, NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell detailed enhanced security measures.

“You will see a … heavy uniform presence around The Garden,” Chell explained.

“We’ll see heavy weapons teams, counterterrorism, aviation, and blocker vehicles. We are the best at what we do. We prepare for protests every day. We will have a very safe day tomorrow for all New Yorkers.”

The rally at Madison Square Garden, a first-come, first-serve event, sold out within hours of its announcement.

The Trump campaign has promised an extensive lineup featuring political figures, celebrities, and musical artists, with the aim of reinforcing Trump as the candidate best suited to “fix everything that Kamala Harris broke.”

With a turnout expected in the thousands, the NYPD is prepared to accommodate protestors, while warning against any criminal activity.
