Justin Timberlake, the acclaimed musician and former NSYNC star, was arrested on June 18, 2024, in Sag Harbor, Long Island, for driving while intoxicated.
The Suffolk County district attorney’s office confirmed the arrest and provided details about the charges against Timberlake.
According to a statement from the Suffolk County district attorney’s office, “On June 18, 2024, Justin Timberlake was arrested in Sag Harbor for Driving While Intoxicated.
Justin Timberlake faces one count of driving while intoxicated and citations for failure to keep right and failure to stop at a stop sign. The arraignment took place in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court.
According to court documents, Justin Timberlake was stopped just after 12:30 a.m. after he drove through a stop sign at Madison Street and Jermain Avenue in Sag Harbor. An officer allegedly spotted Timberlake drive through the stop sign and then weaving on the road.
When Justin Timberlake was pulled over, the officer said he was “in an intoxicated condition” and that “his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath,” and he “performed poorly on all standard field sobriety tests.”
“I had one martini and I followed my friends home,” Timberlake allegedly told the officer.
Sag Harbor, where the incident occurred, is a coastal village in the Hamptons, approximately 100 miles from New York City.
Known for its scenic beauty and affluent residents, the village is a popular destination for both tourists and celebrities.
Timberlake’s arrest has drawn significant attention due to his high profile.
Justin Timberlake first gained massive popularity as a member of the boy band *NSYNC in the late ’90s and early 2000s before launching a successful solo career in 2002.
His debut solo album, “Justified,” sold millions of copies and included the hit singles “Cry Me A River” and “Rock Your Body.”
He has won 10 Grammy Awards, four Emmy Awards, and numerous Billboard Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.
Additionally, Timberlake was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his song “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” from the “Trolls” soundtrack.
Justin Timberlake reunited with his *NSYNC bandmates last year to great fanfare for the “Trolls Band Together” soundtrack.
The group also performed together in March, much to the delight of their fans. Beyond music, Timberlake has made a name for himself in Hollywood, starring in several major films such as “The Social Network,” “Bad Teacher,” and “Friends With Benefits.”
The arrest comes at a busy time for Timberlake, who is currently on “The Forget Tomorrow World Tour.”
He has been performing across various cities and has upcoming shows in Chicago this weekend, followed by a performance in New York next week.
The tour, which began in April in Vancouver, Canada, supports his sixth studio album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” released on March 15.
Timberlake, 43, has been a prominent figure in the music industry for decades.
His latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” marks a significant milestone in his career.
During an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Timberlake discussed the creation of the album, which took four years to complete.
He wrote 100 songs, ultimately selecting 18 tracks for the final release.
“Making this album is different from any other one.… Different from making albums before because I would just go in for a block of time, and say this is what we made and this is what it is,” Timberlake shared.
He described a more flexible process that allowed him to balance his professional commitments with family time, working in “writer camps” with various songwriters and producers.
